Princess Marie in Florence (2011)
Princess Marie of Denmark visited Florence, Italy, on February 2, 2011. While in Italy, Her Royal Highness attended a guided visit of the Badia Fiesolana, an old monastery in the Fiesole area. It was built between 1025 and 1028 in the same location as the former chapel that was dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Romulus. At the time it was built it was called Saint Bartholomew, but it has since changed names. This historic building is now the seat of the European University Institute.
Communication for the tour would not have been an issue for Princess Marie. As a polyglot, Marie speaks five languages - including Italian.
For this event, Marie wore a Max Mara gray jacket to keep the chill at bay. She wore this over a black pair of pants and white blouse with a long necklace. She accessorized with a light purple clutch.
