Crown Princess Mary packs "Comfortpacks" with Mary Foundation
Crown Princess Mary packed "Comfortpacks" which includes backpacks with the necessities to children arriving at women's shelters in in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. She did this with her namesake foundation, The Mary Foundation or Mary Fonden in Danish which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.
The Mary Foundation partnered with the Lego Foundation and packed the bags in Billund, Denmark, earlier this year on May 27. Mary also participated in 2014.
2,300 bags are packed per year and research has shown that the items in the backpacks (towels, toothpaste, toys, etc.) are vital to the children entering the shelters and utilized by them. These shelters are for women escaping from domestic violence. Over 19,000 backpacks have been distributed since its inception.
For this, Mary kept her outfit simple. She wore a blue pin-striped, bell sleeve top and black pants. She also had on a simple gold bracelet on her left wrist. Mary also wore navy heels and arrived in a black coat carrying a brown Ralph Lauren bag.
