Luxembourg National Day Weekend
On 22 and 23 June, the Grand Ducal family attended several events celebrating Luxembourg’s National Day. Princess Claire did not take part in any of the event but the reason was not shared by the Court.
On 22 June, the Grand Ducal family attended a torchlight parade and they watched the firework show. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore a new Etro long trench coat with a new clutch and her Sergio Rossi Virginia pumps.
Before attending the torchlight parade, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie attended celebrations at Esch-Sur-Alzette. Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wore the same outfit to both events: a new Natan yellow dress with her Russell & Bromley Curvy clutch and old pumps.
Princess Alexandra wore a new Etro ikat print jacket to watch the parade.
23 June is Luxembourg’s National Day and also the official celebration of Grand Duke Henri’s birthday. The Grand Ducal family attended a ceremony at the Philarmonie and a Te Deum. The Grand Ducal couple and the Hereditary Grand Ducal couple also attneded a military parade. In the evening, the family hosted a gala dinner at the Grand Ducal Palace.
For the day events, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore a new Lanvin embroidered dress (which was also worn by actress Sarah Rafferty at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May 2018) with Prada black pumps, a navy clutch and Isabel Marant mismatched geometric earrings. She added a hat for the Te Deum.
For the gala dinner, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore an outfit by Paule Ka composed of a black cowl back gown, a crystal embellished beld and an organza bolero. We believe she might have paired the outfit with her silver Prada pumps. She wore her usual tiara, the Belgian Scroll tiara.
Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wore a new Paule Ka contrast piping dress in pink with Rupert Sanderson Hamelin pumps and her Sophie Habsburg clutch. For the Te Deum, she wore a porcelain floral headpiece by Sylvia Martinez for Les Folies Bibis. This is the third year in a row that the Hereditary Grand Duchess selected a Sylvia Martinez piece for the National Day Te Deum.
In the evening, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wore a new red sleeveless gown with red pumps. She paired the gown with the small floral tiara and a diamond rose brooch.
The Luxembourg Grand Ducal family is famous for sharing clothes between the family members and Princess Alexandra was the perfect example of that during the National Day celebrations. For the day events, she wore a suit that was first worn by her mother, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, in 2003.
For the gala dinner, she repeated an outfit that she had previously worn to Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Nassau’s wedding. The top also belongs to Grand Duchess Maria Teresa who wore it in the 1980s. She paired the outfit with the full Turquoise Parure.
