A Deep Dive into the Duchess of Cambridge's 2019 Wardrobe
With 2019 coming to a close, and the Royal Family’s enjoying their own winter vacations. With this, we decided to take a deep dive the new clothing we saw from a few of our favorite royals over the year. Today we are looking into the closet of the Duchess of Cambridge and the 137 new items she debuted this year.
During the year, the Duchess attended her share of elegant galas and performances resulting in 6 new gowns being added to her closet. From the show-stopping custom Alexander McQueen seen above, to a custom Gucci gown- she really showed her glamorous side this year.
They say, if you love something- buy one in every color, the the Duchess of Cambridge continued to make that her motto this year by debuting 2 other Emilia Wickstead “Kate” dress, this time in blue and green. These were only 2 of the 28 new dresses she added to her closet this year with Sandro and Michael Kors being other brands seen this year.
The Duchess had many occasions this year which required a coat or coatdress and with this she added 14 pieces of outerwear to her closet over the year. From the classy Beulah Wool Crepe Coat seen in Pakistan to the rugged Barbour Longshore Jacket- the Duchess added pieces for all occasions this year.
This year, the Duchess took a step into the waters of wearing trousers to more than just sporting occasions, and with that brought 18 new tops. We loved how the innovated Duchess began the year by sporting this Gucci top backwards and then later wore this classic Equipment blouse!
This year will forever be dubbed the Duchess of Cambridge’s Year of Culottes. With 13 pairs of pants and skirts added to her wardrobe, we certainly had a lot of new pieces to covet! We particularly loved how she branched into color with these plum colored trousers from Joseph and green Jigsaw Relaxed Fit Culottes.
And a girl’s outfit is never complete without a good pair of shoes, and we saw 21 new pairs from the Duchess this year. We still have not forgotten the budget friendly Aldo Block Heel Pumps or stunning Jimmy Choo Mimi Silver Sandals.
Perhaps one of the most exciting moments for us here at UFO No More, was when the Duchess stepped out in Elie Saab at the First Day of 2019 Ascot. Her new Elie Saab clutch, was only one of the 9 new bags which she debuted this year.
The Duchess has long been admired for her tasteful jewelry box, and this year was no exception with her adding 10 new items to it. With over half of those being earrings, we can tell the Duchess knows how important a good pair is to finishing any outfit. This year saw the Duchess continuing her love for Kiki McDonough pieces as well as adding pieces from Missoma and Accessorize.
Accessories: 8 What is an outfit without accessories? In 2019 the Duchess of Cambridge added 8 new accessories to her rotation with everything from Rayban Wayfarer II Sunglasses to Massimo Dutti braided belts. It can only make us wonder what we will see in 2020!
And finally, the Duchess of Cambridge branched out to a few new milliners this year. Debuting 10 new headpieces over 2019, we are hard pressed to pick our favorite. However we were struck how heavily she leaned into the headband fad with selections from Juliette Botterill and Jane Taylor to name a few.
