Regal Review: Crown Prince Frederik's 50th Birthday - Pre-Birthday Events

Tomorrow, Crown Prince Frederik will celebrate his 52nd birthday and we will cover the gala dinner Queen Margrethe hosted for her son’s 50th birthday back in 2018. But today, our Regal Review series takes a look back on three events that were hosted the week before Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday as Denmark celebrated its heir.

On May 18th, 2018, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary hosted a dinner at Frederik VIIIs palace to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Crown Prince Frederik Fund.

On May 23rd, 2018, Crown Prince Frederik hosted a reception for his patronages on the royal yacht Dannebrog and Crown Princess Mary was pictured arriving on the Dannebrog to join him after the reception as the couple was expected in Aarhus later that day to celebrate Frederik’s birthday.

When she arrived on the Dannebrog, Mary wore a new dress by Apiece Apart with her Yvonne Koné sandals and Ralph Lauren bag. She also wore new Ole Lynggaard earrings, her Cartier bracelet and her Orit Elhanati necklace.

In Aarhus, Mary wore her Temperley London white lace dress with Prada nude pumps and a Naledi Copenhagen nude clutch. She kept her Orit Elhanati necklace and Cartier bracelet she wore earlier that day and she wore a bespoke Susanne Juul headpiece.

On May 24th, 2018, Crown Prince Frederik unveiled a new portrait in honor of his upcoming birthday. The portrait was part of an exhibition called Crown Prince Frederik -Prince of Denmark at the National Museum of History at Frederiksberg Castle in Copenhagen. Queen Margrethe, Crown Princess Mary, and their children joined him for the unveiling ceremony.

Mary wore a new pink dress by No. 21 with her Christian Louboutin sandals. She also carried her Carlend Copenhagen clutch and her Cartier bracelet with the earrings and ring from the Ruby Parure. Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine wore bespoke lace dresses by Elsa Adams.
