On Monday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima started a three-day state visit to Greece. The Royal Couple had arrived in Athens on Sunday evening.

On Monday morning, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima first laid a wreath at the monument to the unknown soldier on Syntagma Square in Athens.

Afterward, the Royal Couple was officially welcomed by President Sakellaropoulou at the Presidential Palace.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima then visited the Dutch Institute in Athens where they met the Greek and Dutch Ombudsman working together in the field of safeguarding the human and fundamental rights of citizens and migrants.

In the afternoon, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the Acropolis where they saw the Erechtheion and the Parthenon.

The Royal Couple then met with the Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis and held a reception for the Dutch community living in Greece.

In the evening, President Sakellaropoulou hosted a gala dinner for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

For their arrival in Greece, Queen Maxima wore a Natan outfit with her Gianvito Rossi pumps and her Sophie Habsburg clutch. She also wore her Buccellati earrings.

For the first day of the state visit, Queen Maxima wore a Zeus + Dione dress (with thanks to ModeKoninginMaxima) with her Gianvito Rossi pumps, her Sophie Habsburg clutch, and her Chanel sunglasses. In the afternoon, she changed into new Gianvito Rossi ballet flats.

In the evening, Queen Maxima wore a new Costarellos gown with her Natan clutch and the Ruby Mellerio Tiara.
