Today, Queen Letizia attended an event hosted by the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER) to mark World Rare Diseases Day in León. The event was organized within the framework of the organization’s campaign “ How do you see yourself in 2030? ” focused on guaranteeing equitable access to social and health resources.

In her speech, Queen Letizia said: “[…]Behind the figures, the obstacles, the problems, the difficulties, at the end of the day what remains is the value of a person's life. And since a very high percentage of those who suffer from these rare diseases are children, it turns out that this person is small, and looks at us. And it is a look that is sometimes tired, other times carefree, sometimes a look in which questions are crowded in the throat. "Mom, why is this happening to me? Dad, do you think I can…?” Those of you who live with a rare disease know well what I am talking about. And that's what FEDER is for, he's there for answers when they exist, for help, for information, for relief, even if it's momentary, for consolation at times.[…]

During the event, Queen Letizia also presented the FEDER 2022 Awards to the Emergency Protocol in neuromuscular diseases in Castilla La Mancha, Casa de Sofía and Red Únicas, and the Permanent Representative of Spain to the UN.

Afterward, she took the time to meet the winners and the people attending the event.
