Queen Maxima attends World Economic Forum in Davos - Day 1
Today, Queen Maxima attended several meetings during the World Economic Forum in Davos in her role as the UN Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance.
She first made remarks during the "Financial Inclusion - Addressing the Largest Gaps" roundtable discussion. She said: “As we continue to close the financial inclusion gap, I encourage you to apply a financial health perspective to your efforts. This will enable us to achieve the purpose of financial inclusion and create more resilient economies.”
She then attended the Unlocking Capital at Scale for Digital Inclusion event organized by the EDISON Alliance.
During the event, Queen Maxima said: “The pandemic sapped their resources and made it even more expensive to get connected[… ]To avoid a growing digital divide and achieve universal digital inclusion, the public and private sectors need to work — and invest — together.”
Queen Maxima also met with the Director of the UN World Food Programme David Beasley to discuss financial inclusion.
She also met with the Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat to discuss financial inclusion and climate change.
Finally, Queen Maxima also met with the Foreign Minister and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
