Belgian State Visit to Democratic Republic of the Congo - Day 3
On Thursday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde spent their third day in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of their week-long state visit.
The Royal Couple first visited a local market to meet with women selling pagnes as they are an important part of the Congolese economy.
Afterward, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visited the National Institute of Biomedical Research where they met with Dr Muyembe who discovered the Ebola virus with Dr Piot.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde then went to the Academy of Fine Arts where they took part in four roundtable discussions about women’s rights and gender equality.
They also toured the Academy's painting and sculpture studio and met with young artists to learn more about their artistic training.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde concluded their day by posing for photos in front of the Congo River.
Queen Mathilde first wore a printed dress by Odile Jacobs (with thanks to ModeKoninginMathilde) with grey pumps and her Diane von Furstenberg clutch as well as her Rolex watch.
Queen Mathilde then changed into her Esmeralda Ammoun dress with she paired with her Giorgio Armani blue sandals, her Natan clutch, and her Rolex watch.
