Dutch State Visit to South Africa - Day 3
On Friday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima spent their third and last day in South Africa, visiting Cape Town.
They first met with Prime Minister Winde and the Mayor of Cape Town, Mr Hill-Lewis.
Afterward, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the Slave Lodge museum where they watched various performances that brought the history of slavery to life through poetry, music, and dance.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima then visited the Guga S'thebe Community Center where they met with South African young people and civil society organizations to hear about their experiences with gender-related violence and the fight against it.
While King Willem-Alexander visited the botanical garden of Kirstenbosch, Queen Maxima toured the Horti-Demo Center in Stellenbosch, a public-private Dutch-South African initiative. The center develops methods to produce more healthy food with less input.
In the afternoon, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima talked to the media about the State Visit. In a message posted on social media, the Royal Couple said: “Without forgetting the past, we are here to embrace new opportunities in our partnership with you. We are delighted to have made a state visit to your magnificent country. Thank you so much, Baie dankie, Ri a livhuwa, Siyabonga kakhulu.”
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima concluded the State Visit with a reception for the Dutch Community living in Cape Town.
Queen Maxima first wore her Natan dress with her Natan pumps and her Fabienne Delvigne hat. She also wore her Chanel sunglasses and her Patek Philippe watch and she later changed into Natan flats.
