Dutch State Visit to Belgium - Day 1

On Tuesday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima started a three-day state visit to Belgium. They arrived by Royal train at Brussels-South station in the morning.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima then laid a wreath at the grave of the unknown soldier. The monument honors all Belgian soldiers who fell during the First World War and whose names are unknown.

Afterward, the Dutch Royal couple visited the Federal Parliament and met with Prime Minister Alexander de Croo.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were then joined by King Philippe and Queen Mathilde at Brussels’ town hall. After a meeting with Mayor Philippe Close, the two Royal Couples did a walkabout.

In the evening, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a state dinner for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at the Castle of Laeken. Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz were also in attendance.
