King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visit Gelderse Vallei

On Thursday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima made a regional visit to the Gelderse Vallei. They first visited the Apple Path in Nijkerk where they met with volunteers who maintain the path as well as with an agricultural entrepreneur. They also talked to the estate owner about the management of the area.

The Royal Couple then visited the Poultry Expertise Center (PEC) in Barneveld where they met with staff members, farmers, and entrepreneurs from the area about the sustainability and development of the poultry sector and its position in the region.

In Scherpenzeel, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima met with volunteers in healthcare, in the recreational and cultural sector, and in the social domain.

The regional visit continues at the ENKA site in Ede. ENKA was a factory until 2003 and since 2011, a residential area has been created on the site. The residential area was built in combination with the old buildings so that the industrial heritage is preserved. They also visited the city’s korfball club.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima concluded their visit in Wageningen where they visited the SSR-W student association to meet with students who study food production, supply, and development. They discussed how the increasing demand for food can be solved in an ecologically responsible manner and what other challenges they see in the fields of agriculture, food, and climate.

Queen Maxima wore her Natan outfit with her Natan sandals and her Marina Raphael bag. She also wore her Fabienne Delvigne hat and bracelets by Dinh Van and Marianna Goulandris.
