Belgian State Visit to France - Day 1

In the evening, President Macron and the First Lady hosted a State Dinner at the Elysée Palace for King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. Prince Gabriel was also in attendance as he is currently studying in France.

In his speech, King Philippe said: “Tonight, as our national football teams face off, we will vibrate in the same spirit of friendship and fair play. Even if, of course, I secretly cherish the hope of a victory… The French and the Belgians share much more than a simple border; they are linked by a deep and sincere friendship. Historically, our two nations have always found a common path, paved with shared projects, like the Dukes of Burgundy, perpetually on the move between Brussels, Ghent, Bruges, and Dijon.”
