On Tuesday, King Frederik and Queen Mary spent their second and last day in Germany, spending the day in the Schleswig-Holstein state to meet the Danish minority living in the country. They were officially welcomed by Schleswig-Holstein's Minister President Daniel Günther in Kiel.

Afterward, King Frederik and Queen Mary attended the opening of an energy conference at GEOMAR Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research. The conference focused on the role the state of Schleswig-Holstein will play in the establishment of a pipeline that, in the long term, can transport CO2 from Germany for storage in Denmark.

King Frederik and Queen Mary then visited Danevirke, the largest ancient historical monument in Northern Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to hear more about its significance for the Danish minority and the experience of 1500 years of shared Danish-German history. They saw the Fieldstone Wall and Valdemar’s Wall as well as the Gate to the North before taking part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Danevirke Museum.

King Frederik and Queen Mary concluded their visit at Flensborghus, which is the center for Danish association activities in South Schleswig. They spent time with representatives of South Schleswig associations and organizations and greeted residents.

Queen Mary wore her Harris Wharf London blazer with a ME and EM printed blouse and The Fold trousers. She paired the outfit with her Malone Souliers pumps and her Anya Hindmarch bag. She also wore her Gucci glasses and her Sophie Bille Brahe earrings. At the Danevirke Museum, Queen Mary wore her Harris Wharf London trench coat and changed into her Prada ankle boots.
