Queen Sofia visits New York City
This week, Queen Sofia visited New York City where she attended events with the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute.
On Monday evening, Queen Sofia presented the Institute’s Sophia Award for Excellence to Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel for “his outstanding contributions to the global appreciation of the Spanish-speaking world through art and humanitarian efforts”. The evening also marked the 70th anniversary of the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute. The Institute also donated $50,000 to Fundación Reina Sofía for disaster relief efforts in Spain.
On Tuesday, Queen Sofia visited the Sotheby’s Gallery where she saw the exhibition showcasing the 'Still Life' painting by Colombian artist Fernando Botero. The painting was donated to the Fundación Reina Sofía to support the work of the Food Banks.
On Wednesday, Queen Sofia attended the presentation of the 'America&Spain250' initiative by the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute.
The initiative aims to “disseminate and promote public recognition of Spain's contributions to the American War of Independence, as well as to enrich a deeper understanding of the complex and enduring relationship between Spain, the Spanish-speaking world and the United States from 1776 to the present day”.
On Monday, Queen Sofia wore a patterned kimono over a green outfit.
On Tuesday, Queen Sofia wore her Escada jacket with black trousers and a Coach bag.
On Wednesday, Queen Sofia wore an Alejandro de Miguel suit with her Coach bag.
