Swedish State Visit to Mexico - Day 3

On Thursday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia concluded their three-day state visit to Mexico. They travelled to Merida in Yucatán. They first met with Yucatán's governor Mauricio Vila Dosal and his wife Maria Eugenia Ortiz Abraham.

In the afternoon, they visited the pre-Columbian ruined city of Uxmal, one of Mexico's largest and best-known ruined cities from the Mayan culture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the evening, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a dinner with representatives of the state government and representatives from the local and Swedish business community at Hacienda San Antonio Hool. In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “To conclude our state visit in Merida, has been truly enriching. With great interest, we have explored some of Mexico's most significant cultural treasures. Merida is renowned for its colonial architecture, rich gastronomic tradition, and historical heritage, all of which we have had the pleasure of experiencing during this last day of our stay in Mexico.”

On Friday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia privately visited the Mayan World Museum before leaving Mexico.
