Princess Mabel
Mabel Martine Wisse Smit (born Mabel Martine Los) was born on August 11, 1968, in the Netherlands to Hendrik and Florence. She was adopted by her step-father after the death of her father when she was 9. Mabel has two younger sisters: Nicoline and Eveline.
She attended the University of Amsterdam studying economics and political science. She went on to intern and work for various international organizations like the UN.
She married then-Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands' son Prince Friso on April 24, 2004. Their marriage was not approved by the Dutch government. They had two daughters: Countesses Luana and Zaria.
Friso died from injuries sustained in a 2012 avalanche accident in Austria on August 12, 2013, in Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague.
