Little Amalia's godparents were her paternal aunt, Princess Alexandra and maternal uncle, Felix Lademacher. Both Alexandra and the Hereditary Grand Duke gave readings during the Roman Catholic service. Father Yves Menjot, parish priest of Lorgues, Saint Antonin and Thoronet presided over the ceremony.

She was born on June 15, 2014, at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. She is the only granddaughter of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Duchess. She has one younger brother, Prince Liam.

At the moment, since her uncle, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his wife, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie do not have children, she is expected to reign as Grand Duchess. Her father, Prince Félix is second in line to the throne after the Hereditary Grand Duke.
