The Countess of Wessex visits the Democratic Republic of the Congo - Day 1

On Monday, the Countess of Wessex started an official visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Her visit will focus on “addressing the devastating impact of sexual and gender-based violence in conflict while supporting and empowering survivors and tackling the stigma they face.”

The Countess of Wessex first attended a meeting with Théo Ngwabidje, the Governor of the Southern Kivu Province.

Afterward, the Countess of Wessex took part in a meeting with representatives from TRIAL International to discuss their work to fight impunity for international crimes in conflicts.

The Countess of Wessex also met with representatives from the Pole Pole Foundation, a finalist of the Earthshot Prize 2021. The Foundation protects the gorillas of the Kahuzi Biega National Park from poachers and helps local communities to find alternative livelihoods.

The Countess of Wessex first wore her Suzannah dress with her Penelope Chilvers wedges and her Sophie Habsburg clutch. She later changed into her Nicola Sexton loafers. She paired the outfit with her Cassandra Goad necklace and her Felt bracelet.

The Countess of Wessex then wore her Ghost dress with her Nicola Sexton loafers and the same jewels.
