King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Jämtland County
On Monday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Jämtland County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.
The Royal Couple first visited Jamtli, Jämtland's county museum, where a cultural program about Jämtland's history was shown.
Afterward, King Carl Gustaf awarded a scholarship to representatives of the Nordic Youth Games. The scholarship was created to mark the Jubilee and recognizes valuable efforts related to the health of children and young people in Jämtland Härjedalen.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then visited the new photo exhibition of the Museum marking the jubilee year.
After attending a lunch at the Governor’s residence, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a commemorative event at Stortorget.
In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “My first memory from Östersund dates back to 1956, when I was able to accompany my mother, Princess Sibylla, to the inauguration of the Näverede power station. Since then, the Queen and I have been here many times, for example in 1986 when Östersund celebrated 200 years. I also have a long and special relationship with Jämtland because I was awarded the title Duke of Jämtland as a newborn. As crown prince, I belonged to the field hunter regiment I5 here in Östersund.”
Queen Silvia wore a repeated outfit with her Chanel bag.
