King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia celebrate Stockholm City Hall's 100th anniversary

On Thursday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended an official dinner celebrating Stockholm City Hall's 100th anniversary. They arrived at Stadhusparken with the King's Sloop of the Vasa Order which was first used at the town hall inauguration in 1923.

In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “That my grandfather's father, Gustaf V, inaugurated the City Hall on 24 June 1923 was no coincidence. On Midsummer Day 1523, Gustav Eriksson Vasa marched into the capital, after being elected king in Strängnäs on June 6. This year we thus celebrate that it has been 500 years since Gustav I was elected king and that our country gained its independence.”

Queen Silvia wore a Georg et Arend outfit.
