Aug 21 King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Gävleborg County

On Monday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Gävleborg County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were welcomed by the Governor at Central Station and they walked to the Gävleborg County Museum.

There, the Royal Couple toured the museum's collections, including an exhibition about the ceramic factories Gefle Porslin and Bo Fajans, and saw the Royal visits to Gävleborg photo exhibition.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then visited the construction site for Agnes cultural center. King Carl Gustaf signed a document for a commemorative plaque to be put up in the cultural center when it is ready next year.

The Royal Couple then attended an official lunch hosted by the Governor at his residence.

Afterward, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia took part in a jubilee event with performances by Britta Bergström, Hasse Trång, Ingrid Söderberg, and Sverker Magnusson.

In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “It has been a real pleasure to share in both challenges and successes here in Gävle today. And to hear about the history that is part of the history of Sweden. I would like to draw attention to both how we who live in different parts of Sweden belong together, and how today's Sweden has been shaped by history. We should not long to return, but it is important to know where we come from. To be able to look ahead.”

The Royal Couple also visited Alderholmen where they heard more about the history of Alderholmen and Almagrundet, as well as Gävle Municipality's future visions for the new district.
