On Tuesday, the Countess of Wessex attended an event with blindness prevention charity Orbis UK to launch a £100,000 appeal to deliver 17,000 operations to adults and children across Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Nepal. The Countess of Wessex is a global ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

On Friday, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa also attended two events. She first met with members of Zonta Luxembourg which presented a check of € 10,000 to the Fondation du Grand-Duc et de la Grande-Duchess, to help finance the scholarship for single-parent students created in May 2021. The Zonta Luxembourg committee also awarded the Zonta International Centennial Recognition Award to the Grand Duchess for her commitment to the fight for women’s rights.
