On Tuesday, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa first visited "Maison Sichem” which is run by the Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte which supports people in need.

During her visit, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa met with several women who are currently living in “Maison Sichem” and supported by the Foundation. She also met the children of the staff of “Maison Sichem”.

Afterward, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa took part in the online event "Gender equality and the pandemic" organized by the "Gender Equality Office" of the University of Luxembourg.

In her speech, she said: “The observation is the same for victims of rape in times of war as for victims of domestic violence, whether in the world or in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg: the mere recognition of their status as victims is the first step towards recovery. This is an important first step, but it is not enough”.
