Regal Review: The Wedding of Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary - Pre-Wedding Events
Tomorrow, on May 14th, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary. On today’s Regal Review post, we take a look at some of the events hosted in Copenhagen before the wedding.
On May 13th, Parliament hosted a reception celebrating Crown Prince Frederik and the then-Mary Donaldson with the bride and groom’s families in attendance. The future Crown Princess Mary wore an Uffe Frank custom made skirt suit.
Crown Princess Marie-Chantal wore a Chanel outfit with a Prada bag and matching pink pumps.
Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Martha Louise and Ari Behn didn’t attend the reception at Parliament but they attended the lunch on the royal yacht. Mette Marit wore a Dolce & Gabbana jacket and a Miu Miu bag. Martha Louise wore a Tulip & Tatamo outfit.
On the evening of May 13th, a gala performance was organized at the Royal Theatre with foreign guests in attendance.
Crown Princess Mary wore a stunning Uffe Frank red gown with the Ruby Parure for the first time.
Queen Margrethe wore a grey off the shoulder embellished gown.
Queen Sonja wore a off the shoulder navy gown with a matching handbag and shawl as well as silver pumps.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore an Elie Saab floral crepe gown with matching pink clutch and shoes.
Crown Princess Marie Chantal wore a flowly off the shoulder gown that we assume is bespoke Valentino.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore a light pink gown by Norwegian designer Ove Harder Finseth.
Princess Martha Louise wore a peach colored sleeveless gown with matching accessories.
Princess Caroline wore a Chanel halter tiered gown with long white gloves and neutral accessories.
The Countess of Wessex wore a brown sleeveless gown.
The then-Letizia Ortiz who was to be married to Prince Felipe of Asturias a week later wore a Lorenzo Caprile with a printed off the shoulder peplum top and a red skirt.
While the Swedish royals didn’t attend the pre-wedding gala performance, Crown Princess Victoria was pictured that evening in front of Amalienborg Palace carrying her Escada bag.
