Princess Martha Louise of Norway wore a custom Wenche Lyche gown for her wedding to Ari Behn on May 24, 2002. The Norwegian designer has created many of the outfits Martha Louise has worn in the past.
The dress featured a coat (with a train) that could be taken off, which she did for the balcony appearance after the wedding ceremony. The coat was embellished with Swarovski crystals. Martha Louise had the letters "M" and "A" engraved into the design for a sentimental touch. She wore the Queen Maud Pearl and Diamond Tiara which has been in the Norwegian royal family since 1905.
You will notice that Her Royal Highness has her wedding ring on her right hand. This is the traditional hand for engagement and wedding rings in Norway and other Scandinavian countries.
Martha Louise and Ari would go on to have three daughters: Maud, Leah, and Emma. Unfortunately, the union was to not last. They announced their separation on August 5, 2016. They are currently in the process of divorce, but they will share custody of their three children. This is the first divorce in the Norwegian Royal Family in modern history.
