Duchess of Edinburgh

Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones was born to Christopher and Mary Rhys-Jones on January 20, 1965, in Oxford, England. She has an older brother named David. Sophie attended West Kent College where she trained as a secretary. She would work in public relations and later launch her own company, RJH Public Relations in 1996.

Sophie began dating Prince Edward, the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, in 1993. They married on June 19, 1999. She was named the Countess of Wessex upon marriage after The Queen gave Edward the title of Earl of Wessex. They have two children, who they requested do not have prince/princess titles: Lady Louise (b. 2003) and James, Earl of Wessex (b. 2007).

She became the Duchess of Edinburgh in March 2023 after her husband was made Duke of Edinburgh by King Charles III.
