Queen Mette-Marit
Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby was born on August 19, 1973, in Kristiansand, Norway. She has a son from a previous relationship, Marius Borg Høiby. Mette-Marit met King Haakon at a party related to the Quart Festival. They married in Oslo Cathedral on August 25, 2001. Together they have two children: Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus. She holds a master's degree in Executive Management and resides with her family on the Skaugum estate
Mette-Marit became Queen of Norway on 28 August 2026 following her husband’s accession to the throne after the death of King Harald.
