Queen Letizia makes humanitarian aid trip to Honduras
Earlier this week, Queen Letizia made a humanitarian aid trip to Honduras to deliver humanitarian aid to the population affected by the recent floods and to learn about the country’s situation after the hurricanes Eta and Iota. Queen Letizia arrived in La Ceiba on Monday.
On Tuesday, Queen Letizia first attended a meeting with Spanish NGOs active in the humanitarian response to the hurricanes Eta and Iota in the Sula Valley area.
Afterward, Queen Letizia traveled to the Coronel Armando Escalón Espinal Air Base where she was joined by the President of Honduras and the First Lady to attend an information meeting on the damage caused by the hurricanes in this area. The Queen, the President, and the First Lady were also shown a sample of the humanitarian aid material sent by the Spanish cooperation.
Queen Letizia and the Presidential couple also visited the Oswaldo López de Arellano Basic Education Center where they toured the facilities to see the damages and met with teachers and students.
Their next stop of the day was at the Instituto Patria’s shelter where they met with families who were displaced because of the hurricanes. They also learned more about the work carried out by the Emergency Coordinator of the Spanish Red Cross in the area.
After attending an educational activity on hygiene with the children from the shelter, Queen Letizia joined the President and First Lady for lunch at the Operations Center of the 105th Brigade to conclude her trip.
Queen Letizia wore similar outfits on both days. On the first day, she wore her Massimo Dutti poplin shirt and on the second day, she wore her Carolina Herrera linen jacket. On both days, she wore her Panama Jack boots.
