The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend 2021 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony
Tonight, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the 2021 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony at the Alexandra Palace in London.
The Earthshot Prizes aim to “incentivize change and inspire collective action around our unique ability to innovate, problem-solve, and ultimately repair our planet over the next ten years.” The winners will receive £1 million each.
Coldplay, KSI, Yemi Alade, Ed Sheeran, and Shawn Mendes performed during the ceremony while the Duchess of Cambridge, Emma Thompson, Mo Salah, Emma Watson, and David Oyelowo announced the winners. This year’s winners are Coral Vita from the Bahamas (Revive Our Oceans), Takachar from India (Clean Our Air), AEM Electrolyser by Enapter (Fix Our Climate), the City of Milan (Build a Waste-Free World), and the Republic of Costa Rica (Protect and Restore Nature).
To close the ceremony, the Duke of Cambridge made a speech and announced that the 2022 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony will take place in the USA.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in a video call with the winners after the ceremony to congratulate them and spent time meeting with the guests present at Alexandra Palace after the ceremony.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore her Alexander McQueen gown with a new belt, her Oscar de la Renta pumps, and her Kiki McDonough earrings.
