Queen Maxima visits Halt Foundation and makes UNSGSA digital speech
Today, Queen Maxima visited the Halt Foundation in Rotterdam to mark its 40th anniversary. The Halt Foundation aims to prevent, combat, and punish juvenile crime.
Queen Maxima first met young people who received a “Halt-sentence” which is a pedagogical intervention to allow the young person to learn and to offer a second chance after a minor offense. The “Halt-sentence” also includes conversations with parents and the young person and apologies to the victim.
She also met representatives of the Foundation to discuss the possibility for young people to correct mistakes and the prevention of transgressive behavior through information in schools.
Before leaving, Queen Maxima spent time with the young people she met during her visit, taking selfies and a group photo.
In the afternoon, Queen Maxima, as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Inclusion, made a digital speech to open the UNGA G7 Partnership High-Level Event Digital Financial Inclusion for Women in Africa: A Path to Recovery, Resilience, and Innovation.
