Swedish State Visit to Jordan - Day 1
On Tuesday, King Carl-Gustaf and Queen Silvia started a three-day State Visit to Jordan.
The Royal Couple was first officially welcomed by King Abdullah, Queen Rania, and Crown Prince Hussein at Al Husseinieh Palace.
While King Carl-Gustaf and King Abdullah held a bilateral meeting, Queen Silvia and Queen Rania visited the Queen Rania Center in Amman. The Center aims to alleviate poverty and promote social justice.
Afterward, they were joined by King Carl-Gustaf at the Center for a conversation about IKEA's collaboration with the Jordan River Foundation. The collaboration aims to create jobs and help vulnerable women to become more resilient to economic and social difficulties.
After a lunch hosted by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, King Carl-Gustaf and Queen Silvia met with the Prime Minister.
King Carl-Gustaf and Queen Silvia then attended the official opening of the Swedish Dialogue Institute and the new, expanded Swedish embassy in Amman.
The Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa is a government agency that functions as a platform for contacts and dialogue between Sweden and Europe on the one hand and the Middle East and North Africa on the other.
In the evening, King Abdullah and Queen Rania hosted a gala dinner for King Carl-Gustaf and Queen Silvia at Al Husseinieh Palace.
Queen Silvia wore a new outfit with her Loewe bag and her Cartier bracelet.
