Princess Sofia marks 200th anniversary of the Rosendal Vase

On Wednesday, Princess Sofia marked the 200th anniversary of the Rosendal Vase at Rosendal Palace on Royal Djurgården in Stockholm. The Rosendal vase was made in Princess Sofia's hometown of Älvdalen in Dalarna. It was commissioned by King Karl XIV Johan from the Älvdalen porphyry factory in 1823. The vase was finished in 1825 and shipped to Stockholm where it was placed in front of Rosendal Castle.

In her speech, Princess Sofia said: “These objects carry a piece of Swedish history that would never have existed without the unique stones of Älvdalen and the craftsmanship of its inhabitants. Now the porphyry vase is getting a new addition, and I am very happy to be able to contribute in this way to passing on Älvdalen's cultural heritage here on Djurgården.”

Princess Sofia wore an Andiata coat with Stinaa.J boots and her Edblad earrings.
