Queen Mathilde visits Costa Rica - Day 1
On Monday, Queen Mathilde started a three-day visit to Costa Rica with UNICEF. The visit is dedicated to 'Leave No Child Behind' and focuses on UNICEF's efforts to eliminate inequalities among children and young people based on gender, place of residence, ethnic or social origin.
Queen Mathilde first met with the President of Costa Rica and the First Lady Signe Zeikate at the Presidential Palace and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss the work of UNICEF Belgium and UNICEF Costa Rica.
Afterward, Queen Mathilde visited a ‘Casa de la Alegría’ on a plantation in Desamparados, near San José. She learned more about how UNICEF works with partners in more than 40 Casas de la Alegría in Costa Rica to provide care, food, and education for the children of the seasonal workers.
Queen Mathilde also visited one of the 45 safe spaces for children and adolescents in the country’s most vulnerable communities that are being set up by UNICEF and Costa Rica. In these centers, children can share their ideas, thoughts, and feelings through sports and games, and develop responsibility and respect for others.
When landing in Costa Rica on Sunday evening, Queen Mathilde wore her Natan suit with her Sézane earrings.
On Monday, Queen Mathilde first wore a Natan dress with nude pumps and her Voort Studio clutch. She also wore Percossi Papi earrings and her Rolex watch.
Queen Mathilde then wore an Emporio Sinuse dress with her Chloé flats and a Sézane bag which was first worn by Princess Elisabeth. She paired the outfit with her Sézane earrings and her Rolex watch.
