King Felipe and Queen Letizia visit Brañosera

On Tuesday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited Brañosera to mark the 1,200th anniversary of its charter as well as the 10th anniversary of King Felipe’s proclamation.

They first visited Brañosera’s town hall where they viewed a display of documents commemorating the 1200th anniversary of the Charter and signed the book of honor. The Charter of Repopulation, known as the "Fuero de Brañosera," granted in 824 by the counts Munio Núñez and Argilo, is considered the first municipal charter in the history of Spain and one of the first documents of local self-government in Europe.

Afterward, King Felipe and Queen Letizia went to the Argilo viewpoint to attend the institutional ceremony marking the anniversary. They presented the municipal recognition awards to the president of the Regional Federation of Municipalities and Provinces of Castile and León and the Provincial Council of Palencia, the young mayor of the province of Palencia, the veteran mayor of the province of Palencia, and the mayor of Brañosera.

Queen Letizia wore her Bleis pantsuit with her Hugo Boss blouse and her Massimo Dutti loafers. She paired the outfit with her PDPAOLA earrings and her Coreterno ring.
