Infanta Sofia presents Ibercaja Foundation's "Leading Teachers" grants

On Wednesday, Infanta Sofia presented the first edition of the Ibercaja Foundation's "Leading Teachers" grants in Zaragoza. The initiative recognizes and promotes innovative educational projects and brought together the 25 finalist teachers from across Spain in Zaragoza.

Infanta Sofia first took part in the comprehensive health education workshop before attending the sustainability workshop “The impact of the invisible in the classrooms” with Princess Leonor.

Infanta Sofia and Princess Leonor also held a meeting with Carlos Magro, president of the Open Education Association, and Siro López, an artist and educator, to mark the start of the Community of Leading Teachers, a national network created to keep the exchange of knowledge alive and to promote collaborative projects during the 2026-2027 academic year.

In the evening, Infanta Sofia was joined by her parents and her sister as she presented the first edition of the Ibercaja Foundation's "Leading Teachers" grants.

During the ceremony, Infanta Sofia made her first official speech. She said: “I believe the teaching profession has a value and relevance that transcends the strategic and reaches the essential. Beyond pedagogical trends or market conditions or needs, beyond whether students pay more attention to some random video reel than to a classroom explanation, beyond the noise (real or imagined), I say, there is a day, in our classroom, in our childhood, that we never forget. […] Many of us believe that yours is one of the best professions in the world, one that should be valued much more, that carries great responsibility, and that sows seeds of hope today. And for that reason, it deserves respect, resources, and full recognition. “

She then presented the five grants rewarding Educational Leadership, Sustainability in Education, Inclusive Education, Educational Research and Knowledge Transfer, and Comprehensive Health Education.

Infanta Sofia first wore her Ba&Sh top with Claudie Pierlot trousers and Calzados Picon shoes.

Queen Letizia wore a Max Mara suit with Calzados Picon wedges and her Carolina Herrera bag. She also wore her Barbara Goenaga necklace and her Coreterno ring.

Princess Leonor first wore a Zara top with white jeans and her Hugo Boss sneakers. She also wore her Tiffany & Co necklace and her Casa del Jade bracelet (with thanks to Semana).

In the evening, Princess Leonor wore an Easy Wear suit (with thanks to Vanitatis) with Alhamas wedges and an Abbacino clutch. She paired the outfit with her Tiffany & Co necklace and her Casa del Jade bracelet.
