On Monday, Queen Mary attended the EliteForsk Awards Ceremony in Copenhagen. The EliteForsk Awards are awarded each year by the Ministry of Education and Research leading researchers in their field with the aim of creating awareness of research in Denmark.
On Sunday, King Frederik and Queen Mary attended a Celebration Service in Aarhus Cathedral to mark King Frederik’s accession to the throne. They were joined by their four children as well as Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte.
On Monday, King Frederik, Queen Mary, Crown Prince Christian, Prince Joachim, and Princess Benedikte attended an official meeting of the Danish Parliament to mark King Frederik’s proclamation.
On Sunday, Queen Margrethe II abdicated after a 52-year reign and left the throne to her eldest son Crown Prince Frederik who became King Frederik X upon his accession.
