Queen Máxima

Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti was born to Jorge Zorreguieta and María del Carmen Cerruti Carricart in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on May 17, 1971. She has two brothers and a sister, as well as two half-sisters through her father. Máxima was educated at an English language school in Argentina and later attended Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina where she received a bachelor's degree. She earned a master's degree in the U.S.

Máxima married then-Prince Willem-Alexander on February 2, 2002. She retained her Argentine citizenship and gained Dutch. She remained a Roman Catholic. The couple has three daughters: Princesses Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane.

She became the Queen of the Netherlands upon her husband's ascension in 2013 after the abdication of his mother, Beatrix.
