Regal Review: Norwegian Crown Prince Couple's visit to Baltic States - Latvia
For our next posts in our Regal Review series, we’ll take a look at the official visit made by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit to the Baltic states in April 2018 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Baltic states being independent. They visited Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia over the course of four days, and our first post focuses on their day in Latvia.
Their day started with a welcome ceremony at Riga Castle where they were welcomed by President Raimonds Vējonis and Mrs. Iveta Vējone. The two couples had a private meeting followed by bilateral meetings between the Norwegian and Latvian delegations. Following the welcome ceremony, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit laid a wreath at the Freedom Monument and attended a business lunch.
In the afternoon, the Crown Prince couple visited Lysslottet, Latvia’s national library. There, they gifted a book to the library as all foreign delegations visiting Latvia in 2018 were invited to donate a book to the library to celebrate the 100th anniversary. As it was UN International Book Day, the couple met with children and discussed their favorite books. They also met with students who had chosen to study Nordic languages.
In the evening, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended an official dinner offered by the President and the First Lady at the Presidential Palace.
For the welcome ceremony, Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore her Valentino red lace coat with her Zara clutch and new Manolo Blahnik pumps. After the welcome ceremony, she changed into her Roger Vivier flats.
For the event at the National Library, Mette-Marit wore her Prada black jacket with her CO white skirt. She paired the outfit with her Yvonne Koné burgundy pumps and her Loewe matching clutch.
For the evening reception, Mette-Marit wore a new white custom made gown by Norwegian designer Marte Krogh and a navy VBH clutch.
Stay tuned for our next Regal Review post tomorrow covering Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s day in Lithuania!
