Norwegian Royal Family hosts gala dinner for Olympic and Paralympic Athletes
Tonight, King Harald and Queen Sonja hosted a gala dinner at the Royal Castle for the Norwegian athletes who took part in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo this summer.
Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Princess Märtha-Louise were also in attendance.
In his speech, King Harald expressed the Royal Family’s pride and said: “The Olympics and Paralympics give us self-proclaimed sports idiots a golden opportunity to finally be able to sit hour after hour in front of the TV and screen - with a clear conscience. We sit here otherwise too, but not with such a clear conscience. To get to know new athletes, and sometimes also with new sports. […] Also some of us others a little over the years can be inspired by how you set goals and work hard to achieve the dream. You show us that we can do the most incredible thing if the will is strong enough.”
Queen Sonja wore her red Dundas gown with white pumps.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore a new Pia Tjelta embellished gown with her Rauwolf clutch.
Princess Märtha-Louise wore her Jill Stuart floral printed gown.
