King Felipe and Queen Letizia attend ceremony for European Remembrance Day for Victims of Terrorism

Today, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended a ceremony for European Remembrance Day for Victims of Terrorism in the Gardens of the Royal Palace in Madrid. March 11th is also the anniversary of the Madrid terrorist attacks of 2004.

During the solemn ceremony, King Felipe made a speech in which he said: “the attack on March 11, 2004, in addition to being an attack on life and the physical integrity of people, intended to undermine the pillars on which our civilization has been built and developed: freedom, justice, human rights, democracy. For this reason, because the enemies of life and freedom did not succeed - and they will never succeed-, this date was established as the European Day of the Victims of Terrorism; in memory and tribute to all of them, who have suffered in their lives - in whatever form and motivation - from terrorist cruelty.”

Queen Letizia wore her Carolina Herrera black double-breasted coat with her Steve Madden black boots and Karen Hallam gold ring.
