Members of the Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg celebrate National Day

Today, Luxembourg celebrates its National Day! Just like last year, the usual celebrations of the National Day were cancelled because of the pandemic and replaced by a ceremony with the Grand Duke on the day.

However, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie returned to their National Day tradition as they visited Esch-sur-Alzette the day before the National Day.

The Hereditary Grand Ducal couple first attended a remembrance ceremony at the war memorial.

Afterwards, the couple, joined by their son Prince Charles, inaugurated the inclusive “Prince Charles” playground. The playground was co-financed by the City and the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess Foundation with funds donated to mark the birth of Prince Charles.

In the evening, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie attended a Te Deum mass to celebrate National Day in Fischbach.

Today, Grand Duke Henri attended a ceremony at the national monument of Luxembourg Solidarity "Kanounenhiwwel" to mark National Day. In his speech, Grand Duke Henri paid tribute to frontline workers and hoped for a return to normal celebrations for next year’s National Day.

Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wore a new Hobbs dress with her pink Diane von Furstenberg pumps and LK Bennett navy clutch.

Prince Charles wore a romper and Tartine et Chocolat socks and trainers with his name on them.

In the evening, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wore a new Boden ‘Abigail’ velvet dress.
