Today, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended a state tribute for victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and in recognition of the health personnel in the Plaza de la Armería of the Royal Palace of Madrid.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia first delivered the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit to four families of healthcare workers who died during the pandemic. The families were chosen to receive the medal on behalf of all honored healthcare workers.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia then laid a wreath in front of the memorial and a minute of silence took place.

King Felipe also made a speech in which he said: “Today we return to this place because we need and must remember all those who are not with us. And to show in the most solemn way our deep respect, appreciation, and admiration for the health personnel who, since the beginning of this crisis, worked tirelessly, with determination and total dedication, trying to contain a disease for which, at that time, there was no available of treatments or vaccines.”

Queen Letizia wore her Bottega Veneta blue dress with her Manolo Blahnik black pumps and her Carolina Herrera black clutch. She paired the outfit with her Gold & Roses earrings and Karen Hallam gold ring.
