Dutch State Visit to Sweden - Day 1

On Tuesday, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima started a three-day State Visit to Sweden. They were welcomed at Arlanda Airpot by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

The Dutch Royal couple was then received by King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia at the Hovstallet and the two royal couples rode in procession through the streets of Stockholm.

An official welcome ceremony then took place in the Castle’s Inner Courtyard during which King Carl Gustaf and King Willem-Alexander inspected the troops.

The two royal couples then posed for photographs inside the Castle and they were joined by Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Carl Philip, and Princess Sofia.

King Carl Gustaf and King Willem-Alexander then gave a joint press statement before a private lunch took place.

In the afternoon, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima met with the Speaker of the Riksdag and the Swedish Prime Minister.

Afterward, they visited the Vasa Museum with King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

During the visit, they were shown the Vasa Ship and the visit ended with a ceremonial return of the bell from the man-of-war Princess Sophia Albertina, which sank off the coast of the Netherlands in 1781.

In the evening, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a gala dinner in honor of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.

Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, as well Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnusson and her husband also attended.

Both King Carl Gustaf and King Willem-Alexander made speeches during the dinner.

Queen Maxima first wore a Natan dress with her Natan cape, her Gianvito Rossi pumps, and her Hermes clutch. She also wore her Steltman earrings. In the afternoon, she also wore her Salvatore Ferragamo loafers.

Queen Silvia wore a new Georg et Arend outfit with her Hermes bag and her Cartier bracelet.

We believe Crown Princess Victoria wore a Camilla Thulin outfit with a new Örjan Jakobsson headpiece. She paired the outfit with her Marzio burgundy velvet pumps & clutch as well as Handsome Stockholm gloves. She also wore her Luc of Sweden necklace, her Bulgari ring, and her usual stack of bracelets.

Princess Estelle wore a Patachou dress with an Alexandré de Paris bow.

Princess Sofia wore her Lilli Jahilo dress with her Daniele Tortora shoes and a Bottega Veneta bag. She paired the outfit with a new headpiece and her Maria Nilsdotter ring.


For the gala dinner, Queen Maxima wore her Jan Taminiau gown with her Aquazzura sandals and her Namu Lux clutch. She wore the Stuart Tiara.

Queen Silvia wore a Georg et Arend gown with her Judith Leiber clutch and her Cartier bracelet. She wore the Braganza Tiara.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a Camilla Thulin purple one-shoulder gown with the Napoleonic Amethyst Tiara.

Princess Sofia wore an Ida Lanto green off-the-shoulder gown with her Christian Louboutin clutch and her wedding tiara.
