Queen Maxima attends events in Rotterdam and Zeist

Today, Queen Maxima attended two events in Rotterdam and Zeist.

Queen Maxima first launched the MIND Us foundation of which she is now Honorary President in Rotterdam. MIND Us is committed to the mental health of young people between the ages of 12 and 27.

In her speech, Queen Maxima said: “My own motivation to participate is very personal. It has to do with my search after the death of my sister Inés, four years ago in June.  When she died, she was 33 years old… Then you are flooded with a lot of feelings. Sadness, loss, powerlessness. That it had come this far and you couldn't help her. But we weren't sure how… it was hard to talk about it. Her death stirred up a lot of feelings. And again and again the question: could we have done more?”

Queen Maxima also said: “I soon realized that I was not alone.[…] I then went into more detail about this. And I have paid many working visits to organizations that are working on this. MIND was great support and partner in this. Thank you very much.[…] As Honorary President of MIND Us, I am proud to work with all of you. My search has not been in vain. Together with all of you, I hope to be able to help many young people on their way to resilience and mental health.”

Queen Maxima also visited Quardin, an association that offers young people space to work on their talents to improve self-confidence.

Afterward, Queen Maxima attended the VIP event of nlgroeit in Zeist. nlgroeit is a platform where entrepreneurs help each other to take their next growth step.

Queen Maxima gave a short speech and then took part in several roundtable discussions about the role of the platform.

Queen Maxima wore her Natan reversible beige & camel cape over a new Zeus + Dione dress (with thanks. to ModeKoninginMathilde). She also wore her Stella McCartney boots, a Natan clutch, and Natan earrings.
