Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit's visit to Svalbard - Day 2
Today, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit spent their second day in Svalbard as part of their annual county tour.
The couple first visited Polarflokken kindergarten where they met young children at the playground which is sheltered from the wind and the weather to adapt to Svalbard’s climate.
Afterward, they visited Longyearbyen school where they met students from primary school, secondary school, and high school.
In the afternoon, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit went to Bolterdalen where they met the Jordbrudal family who raises huskies and offers trips with dogs and sleds for an extraordinary nature experience.
The Crown Prince couple had the opportunity to go dog-sledding themselves in a stunning landscape.
In the evening, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit hosted a reception at Svalbard Museum for the people they met during this county tour.
In their joint speech, Crown Princess Mette-Marit said: “What strikes us every time we are here is that Svalbard is a very special meeting place - even though it is a bit off the beaten track.” and Crown Prince Haakon said: “In Svalbard, we see extra clearly the fundamental challenges of our time: the ice that is melting, the species that can disappear, the climate that is changing. Nature is at its roughest and, at the same time, at its most vulnerable here.”
For the school visit, Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore her Christian Dior jacket with a navy turtleneck and a Gabriela Hearst skirt. She paired the outfit with her Prada boots, her Saint Laurent sunglasses, and her Cartier ring.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit then wore a Patagonia jacket with her Fjällraven trousers and her Topaz of Norway boots. She kept on her Saint Laurent sunglasses and her Cartier ring.
For the evening reception, Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore her traditional costume with her Utzon jacket, her Cartier ring, and her Tom Ford glasses.
