Crown Princess Mary's visit to New York - Day 2
On Thursday, Crown Princess continued her solo agenda in New York City to attend UNGA events and support Denmark’s bid for a seat at the Security Council.
Crown Princess Mary first received a briefing from Denmark's UN Ambassador Martin Bille Hermann about Denmark's candidacy for a seat on the UN Security Council in 2025-26.
Afterward, Crown Princess Mary attended a meeting with the executive director of the UN Environment Program UNEP about UNEP's global work on the environment and biodiversity agenda.
Crown Princess Mary had an informal dialogue with gender equality experts from the USA, the EU, and Denmark.
In the afternoon, Crown Princess Mary attended the event "How do we best respond to the disproportionate impact of rising food insecurity on women and girls", which was held by Denmark and Nigeria together with a number of partners.
Crown Princess Mary made the opening speech at the event which focused on how to combat gender-based violence in humanitarian crises, including the current global food crisis.
In the evening, Crown Princess Mary attended the launch reception for the Danish candidacy for the UN Security Council in 2025-2026.
In her speech, Crown Princess Mary said: “Advancing peace, human rights, international law, and social progress through partnership, dialogue, and mutual respect….. This is the spirit of cooperation that brought Denmark to the UN in 1945 and ever since. And this is the spirit of cooperation that Denmark will endeavour to bring to the Security Council in 2025 and 2026.”
Crown Princess Mary concluded her visit to NYC by attending a reception marking the 30th anniversary of the Forum of Small States members.
Crown Princess Mary wore a new Ba&Sh dress with her Prada pumps and her Prada bag with Dulong and Rebekka Notkin jewels. She also wore her Gucci glasses. For the evening reception, she changed into her Chanel flats.
