The Prince and Princess of Wales mark World Mental Health Day

On Tuesday, the Prince and Princess of Wales hosted the “Exploring our Emotional Worlds” youth forum in Birmingham to mark World Mental Health Day. The forum was organized by the Royal Foundation in partnership with The Mix and with support from BBC Radio 1.

The forum was attended by 100 young delegates, nominated by leading mental health and youth charities, who had the opportunity to discuss the mental health challenges of their generation and explore how to understand and manage their emotions. The Prince and Princess of Wales took part in several workshops with the delegates.

In her speech, the Princess of Wales said: “ Positive mental health is shaped by our ability to understand and manage ourselves as individuals, and to connect with others through our relationships, friendships, families and communities. We are living in a world however, that is changing so fast, where social media and concerns about the threat of conflict, pandemics, climate change, or the cost of living, can impact our emotional well-being and future hopes dramatically. On top of this, as young people, this can also be a time in your lives, when you perhaps feel the vulnerability of growing independence and self-consciousness. But, by gaining deeper insight into ourselves, we'll be better equipped, to handle the external challenges we all encounter.”

The Princess of Wales wore her LK Bennett jacket with a jumper, her Roland Mouret trousers, her Anderson’s belt, and her Russell & Bromley pumps. She also wore earrings that were gifted to her earlier this year by Sarah Renton in memory of her daughter Issy who took her own life.
