King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Stockholm County
On Thursday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Stockholm County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.
They first visited Skärholmen where they learned more about the district's investments, cultural life and business life. They also met young people who create their own music and videos.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then watched musical performances at Sätrastrandsbadet before planting of a tree, a lobe-leaved alder, to commemorate the Jubilee.
Afterward, the Royal Couple traveled to Riddarholmen with one of the Swedish Maritime Rescue Society's rescue boats.
They walked from Stortorget in the Old Town to the Slottsbacken where they attended a in a jubilee event with performances by Niklas Strömstedt Kiana among others.
In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said : “ I think back on the past 50 years. Since I took office as king in 1973, the population of Stockholm County has increased by almost a million. What amazing progress has been made since then! Stockholm has tackled the major structural transformation and become a region that receives international attention for its innovation climate. Small companies are started here that grow and become global giants. There is a strong belief in the future here.”
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then attended an official lunch hosted by the Governor.
Queen Silvia wore her Georg & Arend jacket with a blue dress, two-tone pumps, and her Hermes bag.
