Crown Princess Mette-Marit attends International Book Fair in Cairo
On Thursday, Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the International Book Fair in Cairo, Egypt. In the morning, Crown Princess Mette-Marit met with employees of the UN and international voluntary organizations who have recently been on humanitarian missions in Gaza or are working in Cairo.
Afterward, Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the opening of the International Book Fair in which Norway is the guest country. In her speech, she said:” Several of Norway’s foremost authors will be visiting the book fair in the coming days. The writers tell powerful stories about important issues of our time – from climate change to equality to diversity. The amazing thing about books is that if you are a little boy or a little girl – who is a fan of Mohamed Salah, or you are an Egyptologist or a crime enthusiast, desperate to get your hands on the latest Jo Nesbø novel – there is a book for you! We can all find literature that inspires us and quenches our thirst for knowledge, entertainment, or understanding of the human condition – through the written word. That is why I love books. They remind us of who we are.”
In the evening, Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended a reception at the Norwegian embassy.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit first wore her Thierry Colson blouse with her Zimmermann trousers, her Prada pumps, and her Foundrae necklace.
